The ERC has given me the opportunity to return to Italy to pursue high risk, transformative research. I hope that ERC in Italy will lead the Italian scientific community to overcome the many hurdles that have hampered it over the years, allowing it to retain and attract talent, engage in productive conversation with policy makers, and communicate with the public. There is no better time than today to improve our tomorrow.
