I expect ERC in Italy will boost the quality of Italian research by 1) fostering a community of ERC grantees of all backgrounds and nationalities, 2) promoting top research at institutional level, and 3) inspiring more scientists to push the frontiers of science. May this small step for researchers be one giant leap for mankind.
